THE OWNER

 

In 1978, Chris Dobbin bought 1130 Kensington Road and has since assembled, renovated, and built many more heritage style projects, which The Dobbin Group continues to own and manage today.

The Dobbin Group has developed office, retail and industrial projects over the years including the Sunridge Professional Centre and Park Place Mall.

Chris was instrumental in organizing the landowners in 1985 to put in the old street lamps, street furniture and trees, helping Kensington along with its distinctive "Old World" culture.

THE DOBBIN GROUP - CORPORATE PROFILE

The Dobbin Group was founded by Chris Dobbin in 1978 and to-date the company real estate portfolio continues to grow. Expansion from 1983 to 1989 saw commercial real estate assets continue to be added with diversification into new markets, namely shopping centers and industrial properties, leading to a successful joint venture with Cadillac Fairview and several other developers.

During the 1990's Chris Dobbin attained complete control of the company and consolidated it's position by selling assets and reducing debt. Today, the 100% owned company is a thriving vital force concentrating on adding value to it's properties. The Dobbin Group's offices have been located in the Kensington area for the past 28 years. The Dobbin Group has proved to be an important part of the ongoing development of this unique Calgary area.

Chris Dobbin's expertise as a developer has been honed primarily in the Calgary Market, where he served on the Calgary Planning Commission and other civic boards. He believes in a 'hands on' approach to business. As well, he believes in the long term holding of real estate, which is why 75% of assets have been owned by the company for a minimum of 15 to 25 years.
